Benjamin Smit is a contemporary South African artist known for his love of water which is reflected in his work. Based currently in Johannesburg, he began his career in the early 1990s, developing a various styles that blend traditional art influences with modern impressionism. He wryly observes current affairs, reflected in his “protest” works and these feature trends that often only manifest some time after Smit’s work . Often featured are bold and dramatic colors that capture unique light and atmosphere. His paintings have been exhibited throughout South Africa and have gained recognition for their emotional intensity and cultural commentary<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
